Let’s jog our memories back to when Saif punched one Iqbal Meer Sharma and his father-in-law, who were dining at the Wasabi restaurant at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai earlier this year. Iqbal asked Saif and his group to keep their voices down as they were disturbing other patrons, only to receive a punch in the nose. After having suffered a broken nose because of Saif’s punch and having his father-in-law injured too, Iqbal is determined not to go in for an out-of-court settlement.
He feels that Saif is using his clout as an actor to get away with this situation, despite his brash behaviour with a senior person. Iqbal, who lives in Johannesburg, South Africa, was quoted as saying, “I want to take the Saif fight to the end. I will comply with whatever is needed of me in the case.” Actor or no actor, he wants Saif to pay for his foolhardy decision to hit a fellow patron in the restaurant, one of whom was a senior citizen.
The chargesheet which was made after the incident occurred is ready to be filed in the court for further processing. The day it will be filed incidentally is the same day of Saif and Kareena’s reception in Delhi. Sharma’s wife, Tarina who is also an actress, had this to say on the matter, “I don’t give a damn about their personal lives.”
Not many are fans of item numbers and their lewd lyrics; one such person is Sameera Reddy’s big sis Sushma who apparently made her opinions pretty clear to sis, Sam. After viewing the video of Sameera’s item song ‘Kunda khol’ from Prakash Jha’s next, ‘Chakravyuh’, she wasn’t very pleased with what she saw.
A source reveals what unfolded afterwards between the two sisters, “Sushma was quite upset with what she saw, especially with the lyrics of the song and poor Sameera who was hoping to hear some great views from her sister was left stunned with her reaction. She in fact tried to justify her work and pacify Sushma but nothing seemed to work. Sushma was hell bent on changing her stance regarding the song and its lyrics despite Sam’s efforts to get her to understand! Finally this turned into a heated argument between the sisters.”
Poor Sushma doesn’t realise that item songs can do so much for an actress who doesn’t get the kind of work she wants to do in this industry. Most item numbers have appalling lyrics and moves but if it’s a hit it keeps you in the limelight.
Nevertheless after a few days, some sense prevailed on Sushma who wasn’t wrong with her views on the song but for the sake of her sister, she had to be supportive. In order to keep rumour mills at bay and not let their so-called fight blow out of proportion, Sushma stated that there was no problem at all. She loved her sister’s dance and look in the song, she said. But she feels that there’s nothing one can expect from an item number, especially when the lyrics are concerned.
Kareena Kapoor married Saif Ali Khan on Tuesday by exchanging rings and garlands. Sources say that the bride wore her ma-in-law Sharmila Tagore's gharara, the final fitting of which was done by Manish Malhotra. Later, she changed into a lehenga, which she wore till early morning to the after-party at a Mumbai five-star hotel.
The party was a grand one and songs from Saif and Bebo’s films such as ‘Mauja Hi Mauja’, ‘Chammak Challo’, ‘Halkat Jawani’ and ‘Tumhi Ho Bandhu’ were played. Friends Tusshar Kapoor, Malaika Arora Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Amrita Arora Ladak with husband Shakeel danced to these numbers. Incidentally, it was also Karisma’s best friend and Anil Kapoor’s brother Sanjay’s birthday and it was brought by popping a bubbly. A tabloid reports that the best performance of the evening came from Karan Johar and Neetu Singh who danced to Sharmila’s songs.
The most emotional moment of the evening apparently came when Kareena’s mother Babita came and hugged her. “Bebo was choked with emotion and thanked her mum for organising such a grand wedding for her.”
The talk of the ceremony was Karisma’s husband Sanjay Kapur’s absence. As the party moves to Delhi today, it will be interesting to see if he will make it to the venue considering he is based in Delhi.
It’s all about looking your best on screen and Sanjay Dutt has certainly learnt his lesson well. A few weeks ago, he returned from London a few kilos down and without the saggy eye bags. But it looks like the actor is still not satisfied. Apparently, he recently saw footage from his upcoming release ‘Zilla Ghaziabad’ and was upset seeing his huge potbelly hanging off his belt in the film. Unable to re-shoot the scenes again due to budget constraints, Sanjay, sources say, has asked for a digital tummy tuck to make his appearance more appealing.
He was dubbing a few of his scenes when he happened to see the old footage of his work in the film and he wasn’t very pleased with himself, especially with the way his body was at that time. Playing a police officer in the film, Sanjay wanted to look his best instead of having a huge belly in his police uniform avatar. Since re-shooting was out of the question, he asked his makers to digitally snip his tummy and producer Vinod Bachchan readily agreed.
According to insiders, every single actor these days gets digitally altered, whether it’s Kareena Kapoor’s curves in Heroine or John Abraham’s abs in Dostana. Well we can’t wait to see Sanjay in this new look!
People are still talking about Sridevi’s spectacular comeback in English Vinglish which is creating box-office magic even now. But as is typical with Bollywood, it seems to have sparked off a new trend!
The latest news is that Rekha – the elusive diva of Bollywood – will return to the screen shortly as well, in a new avatar! She’s currently in talks with old favourite Indra Kumar to play the lead role in a film based on a Gujarati play called ‘Baa Ae Mari Boundary’. It’s apparently the story of a middle-aged housewife neglected by her family. In a bid to prove that she has more than what it takes, she transforms into a model! We guess that’s the part Rekha’s looking at since there’s no denying her skill with the make-up brush!
Incidentally, Rekha did something similar way back in 1988 in Rakesh Roshan’s ‘Khoon Bhari Maang’. The film was a runaway hit and we wonder whether she can repeat the magic. Moreover, Sridevi and Rekha have been very close to each other for a long time so it’s no surprise that Madam Re has been inspired by her friend.
Though Indra Kumar’s possible film with Rekha is based on a Gujarati play, there are quite a few similarities in the storyline to Sridevi’s comeback film. But there is also a catch. Sri had the addition of Amitabh’s delightful cameo, which, in a Rekha film won’t possible ever!
